AID Emergency Medical Technicians are in Aleppo
26.01.2023

As of December 17, 2016, at the hours when the evacuation of people from Aleppo began, our team, present at the Cilvegözü Border Gate, started working together with the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation to provide health assistance to the people arriving.

Two health trucks organized as polyclinics were given special permission to cross into Syrian territory at this time, and our team of 5 people, consisting of 3 doctors and 2 auxiliary health personnel, also crossed into Syrian territory with special permission in order to help the injured and victimized people taken from Aleppo and being transported to Idlib.

Our emergency aid team, which reached Idlib in the evening hours, provided health services on the way to a group of migrants fleeing the persecution of Hashd al-Shaabi militias from the Tal Afar region of Iraq, and reached Aleppo around 11:00 PM, going all the way to the zero point where the evacuation was taking place. The first group to cross in that area was given clothing and food, while health checks were carried out at the same time, and health assistance was provided to the extent possible with the available means. Afterwards, support was given to the efforts to transport people to Idlib.

Throughout the night, 51 buses of people were evacuated, and as of today, the evacuation of 100 buses of people is planned; our team is working to get the health truck to the Aleppo evacuation point for intervention at the zero point.

As AID, medicine and other health supplies to be delivered to the region have begun to be prepared and dispatched. So far, according to official figures, 14 thousand people have been evacuated, and this figure corresponds to only 15-20 percent of the people whose evacuation is planned.

Our health teams to be dispatched to the region have been planned, and the necessary logistics materials are being arranged. For this purpose, groups have been formed from our volunteers and made ready. Throughout the evacuation efforts, which are expected to last a week, we will continue to be on the scene as the Alliance of International Doctors with our health teams in our two health trucks for first and emergency interventions.
